Conference venues

Time to explore the Mainz–Frankfurt region – the geographical heart of Europe and part of an international metropolitan area. Here, cultures, worldviews, countries and religions meet, making the region a vibrant hub for exchange and encounter. We are in close contact with a wide variety of university groups and organisations representing this diversity, and we actively share ideas and experiences with them. Among our partners are, for example, RAMSA, the Council of Muslim Students and Academics e.V. Details will follow soon!

The Mainz–Frankfurt region thus offers the perfect setting for international dialogue, academic collaboration and intercultural encounters – a place where global perspectives connect in the very centre of Europe.

Studying, Research and Teaching in the Mainz–Frankfurt Region

The region is home to a rich and diverse academic landscape that combines centuries-old tradition with forward-looking innovation. From the civic spirit of Goethe University Frankfurt, shaped by humanism and the Frankfurt School, to the long-standing excellence of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, founded in 1477 and named after the world-famous printer, academic life here has deep roots and global relevance.

Alongside renowned universities of applied sciences, the region also offers unique places of learning and dialogue across cultures and religions – from the Raschi-Lehrhaus and the heritage of the SCHUM cities Mainz, Worms and Speyer, to memorials commemorating the victims of National Socialism. Initiatives such as the Jewish-Muslim Education Center “Maimonides”, as well as the Academy for Islam in Research and Society (AIWG), stand for an ongoing commitment to interreligious understanding, social responsibility and knowledge transfer. This academic environment makes the region a true meeting ground for ideas, traditions and perspectives from across the world.

Beliefs, Worldviews, Culture and Religions in the Mainz–Frankfurt Region

The region is a living crossroads of faiths, philosophies and cultural traditions. Here, the European Bahá’í Centre and Temple, diverse mosques and Buddhist communities stand alongside Christian cathedrals such as the Old Cathedral in Mainz and the iconic domes of Mainz and Frankfurt.

Equally, spaces for dialogue and reflection enrich the landscape: the Council of Religions Frankfurt, the Interreligious Women’s Breakfast in Mainz, and the House of Silence at Frankfurt University all foster exchange across traditions. Humanists and philosophers contribute further perspectives, while multi-faith prayer rooms – even at Frankfurt Airport – underline the openness of this international metropolitan area. This vibrant diversity makes the Mainz–Frankfurt region a unique place where beliefs, worldviews and cultures meet, engage and inspire one another!
